Where to Eat? — Jimmy’s 5 Step Guide

We all do this whether we are single, dating someone, or married with kids. It doesn’t matter how many people are a part of the equation, it seems to always be one of the hardest decisions to make—where to eat. We’ve all heard the banter, “I want Mexican, no, I want Chinese…well, you picked last week, it’s my turn” — you know how it goes. Even for Spade and I, we take what seems like an endless amount of time deciding where to spend our precious moments (eating) together. Normally my job is to give you all the details on the best places to end your hunger pangs. Today is different. This is not so much of where to go, but a simplification of how to decide. I’ve put together an easy exercise to go through when trying to make this decision and have linked some of our past posts/reviews for all of our newer followers (or if you just need a refresher!) Hopefully this helps all of you indecisive foodie friends out there!

Nova Coffee

Did you ever have a place growing up that was free of social bounds? Like a secret getaway where imagination could flood your mind? Maybe a treehouse where you did your first sketches, or a garage where you strummed your first chord? For others it may have been a small nook in the attic where you could read without the constant annoyance of a younger sibling. I’m sure I’m not the only one that escaped to the basement of a friend’s house away from glaring eyes and ears of parents, where secrets and folklore spread between comrades and cohorts. As we get older we tend to forget these places. We are more concerned with that next exam or promotion. We spend less time opening our minds and hearts, and more time crunching numbers or meeting deadlines. Our only escape soon becomes a scroll down social media alley. My friends—a place awaits your inner childhood memories. Nova coffee in downtown Warren is a place that will easily become your new getaway—young or old alike.

Lib’s Market

Well friends, it’s been a while since I’ve gotten the pleasure to talk to all of you. Time seems to be tight lately between softball practices, going to school, work—you know, just day-to-day things piling up. I must say though, I have truly missed having the opportunity to write and express myself to you all on here. That aside, Spade and I recently visited a place that we must tell you all about. Ben Ratner from Lib’s Market invited us down for brunch a couple of weekends ago and it was by far one of the greatest eating encounters we have had thus far.

Brunch at Barrel33

On this episode of Jimmy and Spade we are going to take you to a local favorite of ours. It is a place we have recently grown very fond of and has been a great back drop for the creation of new memories. Barrel33 is a stone’s throw away from our humble abode in Howland, Ohio. You can find it on East Market in the Giant Eagle Plaza—very accessible location in the center of town. It has all the amenities of a swanky, small plate restaurant with the added bonus of being a wine and beer emporium. Barrel33 gives us that big city vibe right in our back yard.
